DIY burger style

A burger you can eat with your hands. That’s what you’ll find at Big Fernand. After having spent the last year and a half awkwardly eating our burgers with a fork and knife, trying to fit in with the natives, we were happy to dive into a handful of burger and fries.

With just a few tables, a narrow walkway and a mix of Blondie and MJ on the stereo, Big Fernand feels like a place the cool kids hang out. A mix of NYC boho and North Oakland hipster, we were channeled back to our days in The Bay.

The menu offers five different burgers concocted with the best ingredients created by the chefs, but for the more creatively-inclined you can build your own. You pick the meat, cheese, sauce, you name it. We decided to leave it to the pro’s and go with the pre-built “Big Fernand” and “Le Bartholomé” and two sides of fries.

As girl’s been living without a fridge (ask boy…he broke it!), she couldn’t wait to take a picture before diving into her beefy burger covered in Tomme de Savoie! Yum!
